Glass plate negatives

Albert and Victoria’s collection of glass plate negatives show photographers’ working methods

      ATTRIBUTED TO ROGER FENTON (1819-69)

      The Slopes, Windsor Castle

      c.1857

      30.5 x 38.0 cm (whole object) | RCIN 2079310

Glass plate negative of a path leading to a mixed stand of trees, taken in an area within the Home Park called 'the Slopes'. A building, perhaps part of Windsor Castle, is partially visible through a gap in the trees on the left.

The glass plate negative has been photographed showing the coated side and therefore the image appears laterally reversed. Ptints by Fenton from this negative do not seem to exist in the Collection.
