WILLIAM BAMBRIDGE (1819-79)

The Princess Royal in her Confirmation dress

20 - 20 Mar 1856

RCIN 2083657

Glass plate negative of a full length portrait of Victoria, the Princess Royal, later Empress of Germany (1840-1901) in her Confirmation dress. The Princess stands, facing three-quarters to the right. With both hands, she holds a prayer book in front of her waist. She gazes down.

The glass plate negative has been photographed showing the coated side and therefore the image appears laterally reversed. A print from the bottom right image of this negative exists in the Collection, RCIN 2900072.
