Albert and Victoria’s collection of glass plate negatives show photographers’ working methods

    AFTER THEODORE BRUNELL (1822-61)

'Princess Victoria (1840-1901) and Princess Alice (1843-1878)'

    c. 1852

    RCIN 2083202

Glass plate negative of a daguerreotype showing a double portrait of Princess Victoria and Princess Alice. Princess Victoria is seated facing partly to the left and holding a flower. Princess Alice stands beside her to the left with her arm around her sister. Both girls are wearing long satin dresses.

The glass plate negative has been photographed showing the coated side and therefore the image appears laterally reversed. The daguerreotype exists in the Collection, RCIN 2931492.
