Albert and Victoria’s collection of glass plate negatives show photographers’ working methods

Glass plate negative of a full length portrait of Princess Helena standing, facing to the left, her head captured in profile. She holds a plumed hat in both hands in front of her. A book and a striped shawl have been placed on top of a decorative balustrade beside her, while a basket filled with flowers can be seen on the floor behind her.
The glass plate negative has been photographed showing the coated side and therefore the image appears laterally reversed. Prints from this negative do not seem to exist in the Collection, however a variant from the same sitting is represented by RCIN 2900454.
