Glass plate negative of a full length portrait of Princess Alice, later Grand Duchess of Hesse and by Rhine (1843-78). The princess is standing, facing towards the lright, her face captured in profile. She leans her arm on a plinth and holds her hands together.

The glass plate negative has been photographed showing the coated side and therefore the image appears laterally reversed. A print from this negative exists in the Collection, RCIN 2900441.
