Glass plate negative of a full length double portrait of Prince Arthur with Major Elphinstone, his tutor. The Major is seated on a chair, his legs crossed. He faces to the leftt, his face captured in profile. Prince Arthur places his right foot on the chair seat and looks towards his tutor. He holds a hat in his right hand and a sword hilt in his left. 

The glass plate negative has been photographed showing the coated side and therefore the image appears laterally reversed. A print from this negative exists in the Collection, RCIN 2900291.
