Glass plate negatives

Albert and Victoria’s collection of glass plate negatives show photographers’ working methods

      WILLIAM BAMBRIDGE (1819-79)

      Ferry, Bout and Busdubh

      1854

      RCIN 2082430

Glass plate negative of Ferry, Bout and Busdubh, described as Queen Victoria's 'Scotch collie, ''Cashmere dog' and 'Scotch terrier' respectively. Busdubh is lying on the ground in front of Bout, while Ferry is seated beside them, to the right. The photograph was taken at the Royal Kennels, Windsor.

The glass plate negative has been photographed showing the coated side and therefore the image appears laterally reversed. A print from this negative (RCIN 2105084) can be found in an album belonging to Queen Victoria.
