CHARLES JENKINSON, 3RD EARL OF LIVERPOOL (1784-1851)

Letter from Lord Liverpool to Prince Albert

13 Dec 1841

Loose manuscript paper; mounted | 1 document (3 pages) (whole object) | RA VIC/MAIN/Z/470/70

Letter from Lord Liverpool to Prince Albert stating that he has reported to Sir Robert Peel that the christening of Prince Albert Edward would induce expenses of several departments of the Royal Household. He mentions that his original estimate was £5,000 however after further conversation with Peel has chosen to reduce this, as he belives that it would allow members of the House of Commons to enter into enquiries connected with Civil List expenditure. He reports that Peel has requested further time to reflect on the matter before providing further advice.
