The Sea Victory at Ostia [from the Stanza dell'Incendio]

c.1860-76

Carbon print | 46.3 x 71.6 cm (whole object) | RCIN 852842

Two joined photographs showing the fresco of The Victory at Ostia, painted in the Stanza dell'Incendio in the Vatican in c.1514-15. The fresco is now generally thought to have been designed by Raphael, but his direct involvement in the execution is subject of much debate.
