AFTER ES MASTER

A feast in the garden of love

c. 1840-76

23.2 x 15.0 cm (sheet of paper) | RCIN 853452

A reproduction of an engraving depicting a feast in the Garden of Love by the Master E.S. Trimmed on all sides.

The original print is generally dated to c.1465. Ruland (1876) notes that the figure of Esau in the fresco Isaac blesses Jacob painted by the workshop of Raphael (c.1517-19) in the vault of the fifth bay of the Raphael Loggia in the Vatican 'apparently has been imitated' from this print.
