Studies of feet and hands

A set of three photographs reproducing three drawings now in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford (inv. nos. WA1846.218, WA1846.217, WA1846.216) which Ruland (1876) catalogued as tracings after The Transfiguration, a painting executed by Raphael (c.1518-20) now in the Pinacoteca Vaticana, Rome (inv. no. 333). Parker (see Bibliographic References) notes that these three drawings are fragments of a cartoon that he dubitatively attributes to the school of Raphael, probably preparatory for an unidentified painting. Parker rejects the attribution of these drawings to Giovanni Francesco Penni and their connection to The Transfiguration, an opinion suggested by various scholars during the nineteenth century.
