    Photograph of Dugald Stewart's monument on Calton Hill, overlooking the city of Edinburgh. In the middle ground to the right of the centre is the Walter Scott Monument and in the left of the background can be seen Edinburgh Castle.

    Dugald Stewart (1753-1828) was a Scottish Philosopher who was a professor at the University of Edinburgh. The monument was commissioned by the Royal Society of Edinburgh to stand on Calton Hill and it was completed in 1831.
