A photograph of a red chalk drawing now in the Royal Collection (RCIN 912740) currently attributed to Giulio Romano (c.1518-19). The drawing is thought to be a study for the so-called ‘Small Holy Family’, a painting now in the Musée du Louvre (inv. no.605) generally attributed to the workshop of Raphael (probably Giulio Romano) after a design by the master (c.1518-19). A photograph of the ‘Small Holy Family’ can be found at RCIN 851054.
Showing the full-length seated Virgin supporting the Christ Child who stands on His cradle and reaches for the Infant Baptist, who is kneeling on St Elizabeth’s thighs and leans over towards the Child.
