AFTER? PIERRE PARROCEL

Albumen print? | RCIN 2866345

Photograph of a half-length portrait of George Keith, 10th Earl Marischal (1694-1778). The sitter is facing to the right with his head turned to the opposite direction. His right arm is stretched out in front, holding a baton. He wears a suit of armour with a sash fastened around his hips. His collar and cuff are trimmed with lace, while his wig is tied into queue.

At the time of the photograph, the painting was in the collection of The Earl of Kintore, Keith-Hall, Aberdineshire. It is highly likely a detail from a work by Pierre Parrocel (1670-1739), now at the National Galleries of Scotland (PG 311).
